Research Associate – Bisserier Lab
New York Medical College, Department of Cell Biology and Anatomy
The Bisserier Lab, situated within the Department of Cell Biology and Anatomy at New York Medical College, is seeking a full-time Research Associate to support general laboratory operations and conduct research experiments in collaboration with other lab members. This position entails a minimum commitment of two years with the potential for reappointment. Responsibilities encompass proficiency in general cell and molecular laboratory techniques, including basic animal handling, specifically with mice, and colony maintenance. Additionally, the role involves essential aspects of laboratory management such as supply procurement, preparation of lab reagents, tracking orders.
The Research Associate will take the lead in developing scientific hypotheses, designing experiments, collecting data, and contributing to manuscript writing, with a particular focus on cardiovascular and pulmonary diseases. Research Associates are integral members of the scientific team, playing a key role in organizing and executing research experiments. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong attention to detail, exceptional organizational skills, and proficiency in monitoring and adjusting priorities, problem-solving, and ensuring the day-to-day implementation of research programs. Opportunities for involvement in data analysis, manuscript preparation, and grant application may be available for candidates who express interest.
Basic responsibilities include, but are not limited to, working with laboratory animals, conducting in vivo experiments, analyzing and summarizing research findings, maintaining mammalian cell lines, and performing PCR experiments for both quantitative and qualitative purposes. Additionally, the Research Associate will provide instruction and assistance in the use of laboratory equipment and research methodologies to fellow team members.
